Niche has confirmed what many residents in North Texas already know: It’s a great place to raise a family.

The Pittsburgh-based review company ranked Plano as the No. 3 best place to raise a family nationwide on its 2018 list released March 9. Richardson also made the top 25 on Niche’s list at No. 9.

The 2018 “Best Places to Raise a Family” list evaluated 15,000 cities on several factors, including school performance, cost of living, crime and safety, amenities and more. Data came from Niche reviews, the U.S. Census Bureau and other government sources.

Both Plano and Richardson received overall A-plus Niche grades. Plano also took an A-plus for public schools and diversity, an A for housing, an A-minus for nightlife and a B for crime and safety.

Richardson scored similarly, taking top marks for public schools and diversity. But it ranked below Plano in housing, with an A-minus, and took the same grade for nightlife. It’s crime and safety mark was a B-minus.

Other Texas cities making Niche’s top 25 were The Woodlands, at No. 2 and Round Rock at No. 13.

Naperville, Illinois, took the study’s top spot.
